Lab Team Wins Silver and Best Project Presentation Award at the First Collegiate Life Sciences Competition

The finals of the First Collegiate Life Sciences Competition were held at Jinan University in Guangzhou on October 15–17. A team comprising Jingke Chen, Jue Wang, Xiaochun Zhang, and Yang Shi, supervised by Boxue Tian and Xiangyu Liu, won the Silver Award in the graduate division of Track 3, “Virtual Screening of Small Molecules for Ion Channels and GPCRs.” The team also received the Best Project Presentation Award in the graduate division.

Their project, “A Virtual Screening Platform for GPCR Small-Molecule Drugs Based on Protein Word–Molecular Fragment Pairing Rules,” explores the use of pairing rules between protein words and molecular fragments to screen candidate molecules.

In the regional stage of the same competition, a team including lab member Yuming Zhang received Third Prize in Track 1 of the North China Division. Its project, “The PharmNFlow Model for All-Atom Drug Molecule Generation and Short-Peptide SGLT2 Inhibitor Design through an Integrated Computational–Experimental Workflow,” combines molecular generation with computational and experimental approaches to inhibitor design.
